What could you accomplish in a year that would move your life significantly forward?
#MyOneYearGoal is helping spread the word about the Visionary Journal, a goal management system designed to help you keep your important goals top of mind and transform your dreams into your reality. Imagine what you will accomplish by making your goals a priority and focusing on the tasks that will get you closer to completion. Create Your Vision. Change Your Life.
2015 marks my 7th year creating the Bee Wise brand. My original plan had no time line or restrictions on how long I would persevere before changing directions. But, last summer I attended the Alt Summit where Martha Stewart was the keynote speaker along with other really amazing speakers and experts. I felt there was some note of Providence in my going to Salt Lake for a long weekend of learning. One statement she made was my answer on many levels.
She stated, "Unless you resolve to pursue your dream whether toward business or mastery, for at least 10 years, you won't get to see if it would have worked or not." These are not her exact words because I was so focused that I didn't write it down until much later but the essence is the same. She did not write her first book until she had been catering for over ten years. I came home with a new found excitement about how I would change this or grow that but found myself reflecting more than anything. My wheels were spinning and I needed practical help.
In April I came across Monique at Keep Chasing the Stars, she had been at the same Alt Summit the previous summer. Finding her Visionary Journal became the catalyst to gain some traction, I ordered one immediately, it came quickly and then it patiently sat on my desk, wooing me to walk the WALK. From the first page, I was hooked. Now to answer the question myself:
What could "I" accomplish in a year that would move "my" life significantly forward?
1. Start simple, dream a vision, visualize a dream. Personally, I knew I wanted to be more organized but ultimately I wanted to believe in my dreams. By writing everything down in the journal I let myself believe it was all possible.
2. Make a list, draw a picture, create an aspiration board. I do everything to get motivated and feel inspired to Start!
3. Now take action!
How have these things changed what I will accomplish this year and beyond?
By the simple act of moving forward with a dream, a vision, a list, a picture and some aspirations, my business has dramatically shifted already. Over the next year, I will be able to develop important intellectual property, grow my customer base for my brick and mortar location, create 10 more patterns and start creating surface designs for fabric. Along with all of this, I enrolled in university full time after a 23 year hiatus and I will have my BFA in Illustration next year.
Writing down your goals, reading them daily, applying practical steps and believing in your dreams will ensure progress in the fulfillment of those dreams. The key is to START!
